Frequent Questions

What is Coworking?

Walk into a coworking space and you’ll immediately notice that it feels different from a regular office. Our members tell us the Hut feels like home, warm and inviting with a strong hint of the surfcoast. The smell of fresh coffee in the air is second only to the friendly welcome you will receive from other locals who call the Hut home. You’ll see a mix of those in deep focus at private desks and others striking up engaging conversations at large shared tables.  This is the culture of the coworking space.

Coworking spaces are essentially shared workspaces. They offer affordable office space and flexible desking for those looking to escape the isolation of a home office, coffee shop or the lengthy commute to metro areas.

What kind of people work at Workers Hut?

Our community is comprised of creatives, designers, developers, artists, entrepreneurs, educators, small business owners, telecommuters, marketers, professionals and more. Do you have car parking?

Yes, onsite car parking is available at the front of the building or on the street in Baines Crescent/nearby council car parks. Bike racks are available for your use and we encourage this as an alternative.

Do you provide computers or monitors?

No, you must bring your own computer and monitor. There is a small selection of monitors available for casual use. Just ask Bec or Dave.  We provide a desk, chair, high-speed internet, and power for your workstation. Permanent desk and private office members are encouraged to provide their own desk chair, coffee mug etc to enhance their workspace and comfort as they see fit.

Can I bring guests into a meeting room?

Yes, absolutely your guests are more than welcome to meet with you as they would your own office space else where. This is your business base and we would hope that you would use it as such.

I talk on the phone a lot. Is that going to be a problem?

Our community and space operate on mutual respect between our members. While taking a brief call at your desk is perfectly acceptable, if you think your extended phone time is bothering others, its up to you to take the call elsewhere in the space, like the conference room, Balcony, Lounge or phone booth. If you spend ALL day on the phone, you might like to consider a private office (subject to availability). We have two private pod booths to use for web calls and to enhance your privacy and that of our members.

Do you provide Food & Beverages?

Tea, Coffee and drinking water are available @ the Workers Hut for your enjoyment. We have a Nespresso machine providing a range of coffees, chai and hot chocolate.  Alternatively Workers Hut is surrounded by fabulous local cafe's for your daily fix. You are welcome to BYO food and beverages to the Workers Hut.
